No Man’s Sky Rebuilds its Foundations
After three months of radio silence, the Hello Games team finally lifted the lid on what they’ve been working on behind the scenes. The Foundation Update for No Man’s Sky is the first step to redemption for one of the year’s most controversial games, enabling players to build bases, grow plants for resources, and recruit alien lifeforms. With a Photo and Survival Mode also added in the mix, it’s already receiving positive praise from critics and gamers alike. However, this might just be the tip of the iceberg as some have speculated land based vehicles may feature in future updates.
Final Fantasy XV is hungry for your disk space
Over ten years in the making, Final Fantasy XV will release for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on 29th November. You might think you’re ready with the game preordered, a cupboard full of snacks, and the week booked off work, but is your hard drive? Your Playstation is going to need a whopping 50GB - 1/10th of the base capacity – to accommodate. But it’s Xbox owners who will be hit the hardest, contending with a 52GB initial install with an additional 7GB on top for Game Data. Yikes! Which one of your favourites will get the chop for the Squeenix behemoth?
Final Fantasy XV Crown Update on Day One
Speaking of Final Fantasy XV and disk space, part of that is being allocated for the Day One Crown Update. While you could play the game without, you really wouldn’t want to as it adds camera improvements, scenes from the Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV movie, a new move for Noctis called Shift Drop Kick, a new ability tree for ‘Wait Mode’ and social media support, amongst other things. There’s even food recipes so you can recreate the delights recently found in the Jamie Oliver Fifteen restaurant while at home. If hotdogs and cajun chicken are your thing, of course.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are Nintendo’s biggest ever UK launch
It’s not just been a great week for Square Enix, though. Off the back of this Summer’s mobile sensation, Pokemon Sun and Moon has recorded Nintendo’s biggest ever United Kingdom launch, smashing Wii Fit’s record from 2008. While both games were just kept off the top spot by FIFA 17 and Call of Duty, analysts said that if you’d have combined their sales it would have been a very different story. The game also sold an astronomical 2 million copies in its first three days on sale in Japan. While Pokemon GO may be falling out of favour, the franchise is clearly still here to stay.
Forza Horizon 3 gets first expansion December 13th
Microsoft’s infamous racing series had another huge hit earlier this year and will now get some additional content this December. The first big expansion – entitled Blizzard Mountain – will introduce hazardous snow and ice in a festively themed DLC pack. Don’t worry, though, Blizzard Mountain will add the Ford Focus Gymkhana, as well as a Group B Lancia Delta S4 to contend with the conditions. There’ll also be 50 events total to play through – like Hill Climbs and Descents - with seven new cars and a brand new barn. No official price has been listed yet, though the Season Pass costs £29.99
